Pursuit With Shots Fired Ends in Arrest in Chanhassen, Minnesota

CHANHASSEN, MINNESOTA - Around 7:30 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, officers with the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department were in pursuit of a vehicle that was flagged for a warrant out of Illinois for assault, according to a statement from the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department.

During this pursuit, shots were fired, and the vehicle reportedly crashed near Highway 41 just south of MN 5, located in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Multiple police agencies were brought in, as the female driver did not want to exit the vehicle. A SWAT team was brought in, and law enforcement spent several hours negotiating with the woman until she was finally taken into custody sometime around 11:30 PM without incident.

At this time, there does not appear to be any reported injuries as a result of the shots fired. It is also unknown who initiated the gunfire. The investigation for this case has been turned over to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), as officers fired shots during the incident. More information will be made available once their investigation is complete.
