Eagan duplex fire reportedly started by contractors working at the building

EAGAN, MINNESOTA - Around 9:40 AM on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, the Eagan Fire Department was called out to a duplex in the area of Windcrest Court in Eagan, Minnesota for a smoke investigation. Upon the arrival of the first Eagan Fire units, they confirmed seeing smoke coming from the structure and upgraded the call to a confirmed structure fire around 9:47 AM while Eagan Fire personnel continued to investigate the source and cause of the smoke.

With the upgrade to a full structure fire, additional Eagan Fire units were toned out and mutual aid was called in from the Inver Grove Fire Department. The responding units were Eagan Fire Engine 2, Engine 20, Ladder 4, Rescue 1, Rescue 2, Battalion 3, and Inver Grove Heights Engine 21. Additionally, MNHealth was also on the scene, but there were no known injuries reported as a result of the fire.

The initial cause of the fire is being reported to have been caused by contractors who were working at the duplex. At this time we do not know the extent of the damages to the duplex or residence, but we do know that at least a small fire did occur in the walls. Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and ventilate the residence with most units gone before 10:30 AM. We will be reaching out to the Eagan Fire Department for an official cause of the fire and any damage estimates.
