Man arrested at Eagan Gardens Apartments after threatening neighbor with a gun.

EAGAN, MINNESOTA - At around 4:26 PM on Friday, November 11, 2022, the Eagan Police received a 911 call for a male subject attempting to break into the caller's apartment at the Eagan Gardens apartments. The subject is said to be a tall, white male. The caller reports that the male subject reportedly lives below them. The male subject threatened to break into the neighbor’s apartment and said he was going to kill them with a gun. The male subject is said to own a gun, but it was not known if he had it on him at the time he was banging on the door.

By 4:33 PM, Eagan police had arrived at the apartment complex and were preparing to make entry into the apartment complex and to the caller’s apartment. When police arrived at the caller’s apartment the male subject was not there, so police began to search the building for the subject. Police took the caller and her kids to a separate location for safety and when police were in the caller’s apartment they could hear the male subject pounding on the walls from the apartment below. It was at this point the situation transitioned to a standoff.

Additional units were then called in including the Minnesota State Patrol, Burnsville and their K9s, additional Eagan units, and the Bearcat. Once everyone was in place, police began announcing their presence via the Bearcat loudspeaker and used their siren. Police could be heard saying, “You are under arrest, please exit your apartment towards the hallway with your hands up.” Then following up their commands with the use of the siren and lights.

Around 6:27 PM negotiators were able to get in contact with the subject in the hallway and by 6:31 PM the scene was considered clear with the subject in custody.

While the scene is considered clear, this is still an active case. We will be reaching out to the Eagan Police department for additional comments and details and will update this story with the latest updates from the Eagan Police department as they are made available.
