Statement of Probable Cause

Around 8 PM on April 24, 2022, the Eagan police department was dispatched to a townhome located in the 3500 block of Blue Jay Way in Eagan, Minnesota for multiple 911 calls with people reporting hearing shots fired in that location. When police arrived on the scene, they reported not hearing any gunshots. The wife of Reeverts also called 911 after leaving the home to report her husband was intoxicated, depressed, and had fired off several rounds within the home. Police met up with Reeverts wife and she told them she and her husband owned several firearms including a few high-powered rifles to which her husband had access.

With this information, the police set up a perimeter around the townhome and surrounding complex and attempted to contact Reeverts. Reeverts did not want to come out and ignored any further forms of communication over the next several hours. It was at that point the Eagan SWAT was brought in. Not long after SWAT arrived on the scene, Reeverts finally came out and surrendered where he was taken into custody.

After his arrest, authorities then went door to door to check on neighboring residents and to confirm there were no injuries. No injuries were found. Neighbors reported hearing an estimated half dozen gunshots over a 10 minute period with one neighbor even reporting that they saw a bullet strike the ground in the backyard causing dirt to fly into the air.

Officers applied and attained a warrant. Once the warrant was on scene, they searched the residence of Reeverts and confirmed it was clear and no one else was in the residents. During their search, officers found several shell casings on the floor, along with multiple suspected bullet holes in both walls and windows. Officers also seized 9 different firearms from the residents and a large amount of ammunition.

Around 8:20 PM on Sunday, April 24, 2022, Eagan police were called out to the 3500 block of Blue Jay Way in Eagan, Minnesota for a report of shots fired in a neighboring apartment building. A second call came in from the wife of the man who was shooting the gun stating that the man might have been under the influence. She had also stated the man had access to several high-powered weapons within the residence. When police arrived, they made contact with the man, but he did not want to leave the residence, so a standoff ensued.

With the knowledge the man had access to several possibly high-powered weapons, officials decided to block off Blue Jay Way at Duckwood Dr and a plan was put in place to bring in negotiators and the Eagan SWAT Bearcat. A command post was set up at O’Leary’s Park where several rescue personnel, police, and the mobile command truck were set up. Some residents in the area were contacted by Eagan police and told there was an active police situation in the area and to shelter in place until an all-clear was given. By around 11:35 PM on April 24th, the Eagan SWAT team had arrived on the scene with the man surrendering soon after and was arrested.

Police then searched the surrounding apartments to make sure there were no injuries in the neighboring apartments. None were reported. Residents were allowed to return to their homes by around 12:15 AM on April 25th. The search warrant arrived on the scene and the search of the apartment began just after 12:30 AM. The building was considered clear just before 12:50 AM with the scene considered clear soon after that and Blue Jay Way was reopened. An all-clear was given to residents in the area soon after that.

At the time of this update, police have not released the name of the individual who was arrested or any other information. An investigation is ongoing and more details will be released once that is complete. Once those details are released will be updated this article again with the latest.
