Repeat Mail Theft Suspect Arrested in Apple Valley, MN

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - Officers with the Apple Valley Police Department were called out to a business in the 7400 block of 147th Street in Apple Valley, Minnesota, for reports of mail theft after hours.

According to a criminal complaint released by the Dakota County Attorney's Office, a female was seen entering a building after hours, prying open a mailbox, and then taking multiple pieces of mail from the mailbox. Through surveillance footage, officers identified the individual as Susie Suttles. Officers located her nearby, and she was taken into custody. Suttles was found in possession of the mail she stole from the business, and she also admitted to officers that she stole the mail to pay off her drug dealer for drugs, as he would take the mail as a form of payment. She also admitted to the use of drugs recently.

Local law enforcement is familiar with Susie Suttles, as she was arrested back on November 10, 2023, for stealing mail in both Eagan and Apple Valley and was also found with letters from residents in St Paul, Minnesota.

According to the criminal complaint, Susie Suttles was charged with one count of Felony Mail Theft (Addressed to Another), with a sentence of 0 to 3 years and/or a fine of $1,500 to $5,000. They were also charged with 4th Degree Misdemeanor for Criminal Damage to Property (Intentional), which comes with a 0 to 90-day sentence and/or a fine of $300 to $1,000. Their bond was set at $40,000 without conditions and $15,000 with conditions, and it has not been paid as of writing this article. Their next court date is February 21, 2024, at 9 AM in Hastings, Minnesota.
