“Hero Walk” Planned to Honor and Remember Maxwell Wilson

LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA— A teenage male sustained life-threatening injuries in a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle at the intersection of 179th Street (Dakota County Road 9) and Granby Lane in Lakeville, Minnesota. The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024.
A press release from the Lakeville Police Department reported that the accident happened when a passenger vehicle traveling westbound on 179th Street collided with a pedestrian on a motorized scooter. The teenager was crossing 179th Street from south to north at Granby Lane when the collision occurred. The intersection where the accident happened is regulated by stop signs for north and southbound traffic on Granby Lane, while east and westbound traffic on 179th Street proceeds without stopping.
Emergency services, including the Lakeville Fire Department and Allina EMS, responded promptly to the scene. The injured teenager was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for life-threatening injuries. The driver of the passenger vehicle, an adult female, was not injured in the accident.
The Minnesota State Patrol also responded to the scene to assist with the crash reconstruction, helping to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision. While law enforcement investigates, the following streets were closed:

179th Street W at Cedar Avenue
Graphite Lane at Granby Lane
Remembering 14-year-old Maxwell (Max) Robert Wilson
We have learned that the tragic incident yesterday, June 3, 2024, involved 14-year-old Maxwell (Max) Robert Wilson. He was critically injured in the motor vehicle accident while riding his motorized scooter. According to the GoFundMe set up by a family friend, Max was known for his vibrant personality and love for sports, family, friends, and adventures. His parents, Chad and Jody, and his sister, Morgan, have been at his bedside, praying for a miracle.
Unfortunately, the GoFundMe states that in light of the severity of his brain injuries, Max, who is an organ donor, will not survive. They will be holding a “Hero Walk” tomorrow (Wednesday), June 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. at HCMC Hospital in Minneapolis, with attendees asked to arrive by 1:15 p.m. This event honors Max's life and his final act of generosity.
