Shots were fired at Southdale Center Shopping Mall in Edina, Minnesota

EDINA, MINNESOTA - According to a press release from the Edina Police Department around 10 PM on April 5, 2023, they report that several local emergency agencies responded to the Southdale Center Shopping Mall in Edina, Minnesota, for shots fired call around 8 PM on the evening of Wednesday, April 5, 2023. The Edina Police Department reports that a call came in for shots fired near Door 8 at the Southdale Center Shopping Mall, located near the Macy’s store on the northwest side of the mall. Soon after police officers arrived at the scene, it was determined that there was no active shooting threat at the mall. Out of an abundance of caution, the mall was put into lockdown for about an hour as officers cleared the mall and searched for victims. Officers reportedly found bullet casings and damage to a window near Door 8, confirming a shooting did occur at the mall. The police report there were thankfully no shooting victims found at the mall or any local hospitals.

The Edina Police Department believes there is no active threat to the public at this time, but they continue to interview witnesses at the scene. They are also reviewing security footage from the scene as they look into what occurred at the Southdale Center Shopping Mall. The Edina Police do not have a description of a possible suspect(s).
